School Lessons – What was your favourite?

I have this memory of a science lesson.
I know it was close to the summer holidays.
The heat made the classroom unbearable.
The boiler was always on. Which meant the radiators were always on.
Except in winter when it was most needed.
Then you froze.
On this occasion, the teacher finally gave in to all the complaints and allowed us to open all the windows.
A small victory for the kids.
I was looking out of the window at the school field.
Lunchtime was close.
Soon we would be free.
The sound of my name brought me back to earth.
“If you met a visitor from another planet, how would you describe water?” I was asked by the teacher.

School Class Room

Crikey!
On a hot day, I get asked the hardest question ever.
The whole class waited for my answer. I could sense their relief and joy that they hadn’t been asked.
The German word is schadenfreude.
I can’t remember my pathetic answer, it didn’t pass muster because we spent the next 40 minutes discussing the question.
When I say discussing I mean my classmates shouting out random words like….
H2O! Liquid! Wet! Clear! The water cycle! Solid or gas! You get the idea.
In the end, I think we came up with “a liquid vital for life, that the planet produces”

Glass of Water

Why am I telling you this story? Good question!
The memory came to me the other day. I had a meeting with a large accountancy firm in London. As you may have guessed we were discussing how the latest technology could dynamically change their business. Sometimes describing the technology services that HDUK offer the accountancy sector can be like that summer day in the classroom all those years ago.

I understand that most of you aren’t technology experts, you are finance experts.
So when I get asked about Microsoft Azure it can be similar to describing water.
How do you describe Microsoft Azure? I have learnt that the best way is to start by asking questions.

Questions about you and how you intend to spiral up your business dynamically.
To someone dehydrated, a glass of ice-cold water is everything.
Are you thirsty to learn more about Microsoft Azure? Don’t worry we won’t treat you like a visitor from another planet.
